344) The Summit Inn (Gaffney’s) of the Summit, Howth, North County Dublin

A somewhat mediocre establishment situated at the highest point on Howth Head, hence the name. We visited one sunny Sunday in the company of Enrique Wedgwood Young, in the course of a seaside pub crawl-cum-film shoot. Being the weekend, the whole peninsula was hopping and crawling with activity, and this pub was no exception. Large tables within heavily hint that they'd much prefer it if you ordered food. We sat outside on a wetted bench, and saw much eye-candy by way of doggies and damsels in chafing leggings that lay heavy stress on the contours of a buttock and a posterior's palp, and all in all cannot help but call pervy attention rearward. Given the pub's situation, you would expect some class of great view of the sea, but all one can see from this vantage is buses and traffic, a disappointment for the traveller in search of a picturesque vista to wash the pint down. Fortunately, the cliffs are not far off and the fresh sea wind will wipe away all regrets.
