Off the Howth road and tucked away in the middle of a housing estate, the Pebble Beach pub is nested in tranquillity and is the last pub along the strand until Sutton. A pub where you’d least expect it, the unique location is off the beaten track and yet just minutes from the water. Inside the pub is quite predictable however you might see RTÉ broadcaster Joe Duffy who refers to his local affectionately as ‘The Pebbler.’ If one walks through the doors in the bar marked ‘lavatory’ one will end up in an insipid and large lounge. There’s a small coal stove to warm the weary traveller.

In 2020, during the Covid crises staff tried to bend the rules by offering to deliver pints freshly poured from a keg in the back of a van. But Paul Healy, reporter for the Star newspaper reported that the Gardai quickly put an end to that enterprise as the pub was in breach of licence. Perhaps a Beamish Bonder?
