A familiar setup seen many times over – a large and food-dispensing lounge to the left, a long narrow bar to the right. As with other pubs visited along this stretch, the barman displayed palpable surprise on being asked to pour a Beamish – perhaps this wholesome beverage has an unwarranted reputation for savagery in these parts. Stubs of tickets, remnants of the weekly draw, lay on our table. The bar's clientele were, to be polite, of the 'seasoned' variety. All in all, forgettable.
