247) The Dominick Inn of Upper Dominick Street, D7

Formerly called The Phoenix then Paddy Murphy's. An unprepossessing exterior enlivened in summertime by buckets and festoons of bright flowers. Interior like a glorified living room with bar attached. Dark, with no windows to be found anywhere, but the Beamish pours at €3.60 a pint! The price would nearly pierce your heart with charity! (See entry for Cumiskey’s for it being a best value Beamish bonder). The opening of student premises on the street may further boost the pub's footfall.

UPDATE AS OF APRIL 2023: Here be a footnote long overdue. The Dominick Inn was dormant for a goodly while during the Covid crisis and pandemic panic. It reopened briefly but shut subsequently. After a few such sputters and dribbles, it eventually gave up the ghost at some indeterminate date. We mourn its loss but concede the inevitability of said loss.
