292) The Viscount of Swords Road, Whitehall, D9

Yet another pub owned by yet another O’Connell. Despite a massive big-ass Guinness Clock perched on high they aren’t so snobby as to put all their eggs in the one Diageon basket. While it’s an unexceptional pub (admittedly visited during a premiership finale when no seats were to be had and sweaty bodies jostled each other) it serves a very fine and deliciously creamy pint of Beamish – so fine that it almost raised the bar too high, and the pubs that followed suffered in its wake. Andrew Stephens will go further, and declare it unabashedly:

THE FINEST PINT I HAVE EVER TASTED.
— Andrew Richard Fredrick Stephens

With such a stately statement stated so boldly, we simply must return to test the replicability of its quality. As for the pub? There’s a load of aircraft and Aer Lingus nicknacks knocking about, highlighting the presence of the airport down the road – their most popular novelty cocktail is called 'Aviation' or 'Woo-woo'. The Viscount ladies and gentlemen! Over 30 years in business and still flying!
