305) The Slipper (Matt Weldon's Lounge), Ballymun Road, Glasnevin, D11
Located beside Dublin City University and operational since the fifties. The place was innocuous and unexceptional, but distinguished by us as being the three-hundredth pub we had visited, making for much pint-toasting and back-slapping and self-congratulation. However, its thunder was subsequently stolen, and landmark status significantly dissipated, when we realised we had callously omitted a handful of crucial pubs from earlier on in the list (see the Long Hall, Kennedy's, O'Reilly's, Cassidy's and the Lombard), resulting in The Slipper's dislodging from a monumental number three hundred to a bland three hundred and five. Such are the perils of keeping track of things with a tankard or two on board. Tant pis, c'est la vie, such is life in an outhouse, so go shoot me, Shirley Bassey.
