231) O'Sullivan's (now: Bar 1920) of Westmoreland Street, D2

This pub is hidden in plain sight and under the shade of two great trees on Westmoreland Street, housed in an old Bewley’s building which is listed and so the façade still bears the name. Inside is dark with barrels for tables and a small stage by the front window for a solo act. Up three flights of stairs one can find a ‘secret beer garden’ which is almost always empty. There’s a high price to pay for the pint, however. It appears now that the pub was all too hidden; it’s now permanently closed. R.I.P. Reopened as of 2019 with the amazingly innovative and incredibly moving name ‘Bar 1920’ – it’s as horrible and trendy as it sounds. Cocktails, pink gin and saffron aplenty.
