218) Hill 16 of Gardiner Street Middle, D1

Hell 16 more like it. With its proximity to Croke Park this pub is strictly for GAA heads. Standing room only during match day madness. At the final whistle, a disc jockey is rolled in to blast out karaoke music making for a pub unsuitable for conversation. One may politely ask a local if a vacant seat is free, and receive the charming reply of 'Well I don't see anyone' – a Dublin equivalent of 'Duh, obvs'.

If a quiet pint is your cry, avoid Hill 16. The closeness to Croke Park has been known to breed a raucous antipathy come match-time, and the pub most recently made minor headlines when it erupted into violent anarchy following the September 2019 Dublin vs. Kerry final [1].
